"You will change your life with the help from these amazing people. They changed mine and made me into the Rower that I want to be. I want to personally thank Ted for always moving back my starting line just the slightest bit, pushing me further and further to give me a future in college rowing."

What an AMAZING story!

When I was twelve years old I became a diabetic. The ironic thing about that day is I went to ice cream right before, and I got the biggest serving. I was always sitting, watching TV, eating the food that gave me an illness, in quantities that were out of control. Though between then and now there was always this expectation of getting healthy. Going to the doctors the saying “all that is needed is diet and exercise” followed after me for years. My grandma was working out some and my mom attempted to motivate me to tag along. During the first months of 2012 I was on a health kick, expelling all of the sugar and the mental disease that had plagued me for years. For about a month, my mom, her friend and I had been working out with a “personal trainer” of sorts, but he never pushed me, never motivated me to workout outside of the “sessions”. So my mom suggested we go to North West Personal Training and see how it works out. That is when I met a man named Ted. During that first meeting I was told that I was an athlete. Me being me I scoffed it off in my head and continued to do the squats, though I could not have been more wrong. That is when it started. Though this was never about becoming skinny or losing weight, it was all about health and those cursed little white diabetic tablets I had to intake every day for three years. That is when I became a new person, realizing that it takes time to become strong. I learned very quickly that you never tell Ted that you hate push-ups…because guess what he will make you do next? During those months I was happier, nicer, and just better. Finally I had overcome something that I could not put my finger on. Then my mom told me something that I will never forget. Two simple words, “Fight Back”. I realize that is what I am doing now, fighting for my life back. I am fighting myself and the addiction I face towards food and candy and those little white diabetic pills. I started to go to the Monday Rowing classes and little did I know I was sealing my own fate with that one. I became obsessed with these little numbers at the top of the screen, and that is exactly what Ted wanted. I became obsessed and thus I became stronger, I was becoming a rowing, though secretly under the layers of fat. Those layers kept getting smaller and smaller and my muscles kept getting stronger and stronger, I was becoming an athlete. Though this this time I was going back to the doctor, baffling them with my progress and they baffled me when I was told I no longer needed to take my pills anymore. I am no longer diabetic. The first day back to NWPT after hearing this new I told Ted he owed me a back flip, though he could not do it, I had not given him enough time. You will change your life with the help from these amazing people. They changed mine and made me into the Rower that I want to be. I want to personally thank Ted for always moving back my starting line just the slightest bit, pushing me further and further to give me a future in college rowing and even a future at all. Without these people I do not know where I would be right now, and I am ever so grateful to be able to share my story.
