For years, I have neglected my health, putting it last among the many priorities in my life. As a result, my health has suffered and I found myself at risk for chronic health problems that pose serious risks to my well-being. Since joining Northwest Women’s Fitness Club & Northwest Personal Training, I have been able to significantly reduce the medications I take to manage my hypertension. As an adult, I have tried any number of times to “get into shape.” I have started a new fitness regimen any number of times, enthusiastic at the start, but quickly losing interest and commitment and becoming discouraged. Working with AJ keeps me encouraged and keeps me motivated to stick with this program. AJ celebrates each of my victories, no matter how big or small. Her positive approach and willingness to work with me, to gently push me gives me confidence that I will meet my fitness goals. I have almost met the goal to manage my hypertension with exercise alone (and no medications), and I am making progress on the goal to, finally, do a chin-up. What I have learned from working with AJ is that it is the journey to fitness that is most important. So while I will rejoice when I meet my goals, I know that my work is not done; that I will need to continue to maintain the commitment I have made to put my health first. In my work, I have to travel a lot. The disruption to my daily routine caused by out-of-town travel has derailed my best intentions to exercise in the past. AJ worked with me to develop some strategies that have kept me exercising, even when I am on the road. Each of these successes reminds me that I can do this. I can make a commitment to my health and keep it.
