Prior to starting with Northwest Personal Training I had given up on gyms making a difference for me. I had seen my weight slowly creep upward from 187 lbs to 200 to 220 to a high point of 243 lbs. For years, my doctor had been after me to lose weight, and in January of 2005, he declared that I was at risk for Type 2 Diabetes; significantly overweight, most of it carried around my waist, high blood pressure, high triglycerides and bad cholesterol ratios. I decided that I really needed to take positive steps to get back in shape, not just pay the concept lip service. I started cycling one or two times a week, but knew I had to take other steps. I was inspired by Doug Williams, a client of Northwest Personal Training, who experienced some pretty unbelievable results. I knew there was hope for me. So I signed on with NW Personal Training. Over 42 days, I lost 30 pounds, 5.8% body fat, and 45 inches in body measurements. I continued to lose more pounds and kept the weight off over the holidays. In the spring, I reached my lowest weight of 191 pounds. In short, over the past year or so, I have lost 52 pounds, over 6% body fat and god knows how many inches in body measurements. I had my pants taken in 4 inches and had to have my suits altered in a major way! I am much more active now exercising 3-6 times a week and cycling an average of 50 miles per week. I used to view exercise as a chore. It was boring. I would do it and not see any results. Something I had to do to “stay in shape.” I almost hate to say it, but now it’s really fun. Even when I am straining to complete some almost impossible exercise, I now know I can do it! I am also significantly more conscious of the food that I am putting into my body. I am more confident and much happier about how I look to other people. It’s really great to look at myself in the mirror in the morning and be happy with what I see instead of looking at myself and going “I really need to get back in shape” or “I really need to lose a few pounds.” I used to think that people use to focus on my stomach and think to themselves “Oh My God! Is he pregnant?” Now, I get continuous comments like “Damn, you look great!” and “You’re half the man you used to be.” NWPT has really made a difference in my life. |
