The main reason for my success has been the motivation of the 6-week challenge, combined with training for the Gals and Dudes Triathlon (my first). Having Kara’s guidance on meal planning, as well as the accountability that comes from turning in food logs and meal plans and weekly weigh-ins, have made a big difference. I have totally changed my diet from very high carbs to a balanced mix of protein, whole grains, fruits, and veggies. Just eating protein at each meal, and including two small snacks, has kept me more energized throughout the day without feeling hungry. Our daughters have also been eating more healthfully – more whole grains, low-fat fruit smoothies, ground turkey instead of beef, and fewer salty carb snacks. I am hopeful that they are seeing the difference that balanced eating and exercise can make in your fitness level and overall energy and positive mindset. I am trying to be a good example for them, and be able to keep up with them as I get older!
