Burpees, lunges and squats, oh my! Kate and I relocated to Vancouver in 2013 and spent the first year in our entire adult lives not working out and without a gym to call home. Thankfully, a fellow colleague suggested we give NWPT a try and after doing a little online research we decided to join for a six week introduction. After the first six weeks of an intense introduction to the NWPT style of training, we attended the 2014 anniversary party where we quickly made friends with other past and current clients, and decided to continue our membership. We enjoy spending time in and out of the gym with the people we workout with, both the trainers and other clients. With this supportive base from the NWPT family we have been able to achieve our fitness goals. Being part of the Mexico trip this past fall was an absolute blast. Rob and Sherri hosted great workouts in a wonderful environment. I would never have thought that water aerobics could be so difficult. While we have enjoyed so much about our first year of training at NWPT, we are very excited about the additional hour of group class on the weekday evenings. The extra hour ensures that I can make it into the gym for a workout even if I miss my bus ride back from Portland, which happens more often than not. The group classes have been a staple of our health commitment over the last year; we regularly attend group classes throughout the week which has given us exposure to training with several of the skilled trainers at NWPT. Both in class and during partner training sessions we have found each and every one of them to be excellent and they individually inspire us in different ways. Cody always has some new extremely complicated, multi-muscular exercise to try out on us. Lacy’s enthusiasm encourages us to push ourselves when we want to give up. Leah’s 9am muscle tone and fitness class has consistently been one of the toughest early morning workouts. Trevor’s kickboxing class was a favorite of ours, bring it back Sherri. Ted’s shockwave is a great way to end Monday and even better way to shock our systems back into a week of exercise and health. Rob won over Kate’s heart with the summer bootcamp course as it’s the first class she actually felt sick in afterwards. She has taken crossfit, kickboxing, MMA and never had “such an intense workout.” Her words, for real. I just find it hilarious that he finds any excuse to take his shirt off. Derrick’s classes, be it yoga or muscle power and strength, pushes our boundaries of balance and focus. I think I have done more lunges in Kristen’s classes than ever and Cindy was the first to introduce us to tabata training. We look forward to getting to know the newest trainers. And of course, Sherri, who couldn’t adore that woman. Now we just need her to start teaching break dance classes. |
