Not so long ago, I was completely out of shape and I couldn’t chase my son around the block without getting winded. Something had to change. I started running SLOWLY and for small periods of time: 1 min, 3 mins, 15 mins, and slowly, but surely, was able to run 3-5 miles (without stopping!) on a regular basis. In October of 2011, I ran the Girlfriends ? Marathon. While I knew that just finishing was an accomplishment, I was disappointed with how long it took me to finish. In my mind, I knew I was capable of more, but my body wasn’t cooperating. I didn’t know how to take my fitness to the next level and I knew I needed help. I had met Trevor at NWPT during the Free Summer Boot Camp Series in the Summer of 2011 and he was just the kind of “help” I needed. I was a little tentative at first because I knew that if the workouts weren’t fun, I wouldn’t keep doing them. But, right from the very beginning, Trevor made all the workouts interesting and enjoyable. Almost immediately, I could feel myself getting stronger. (I also started feeling muscles, I didn’t know I had…) And while the workouts are hard, they are fun and there is always laughter intermixed in. Everyone at NWPT is amazing. All the trainers are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming. I love coming in to workout. My schedule is usually very busy, but I know that the time that I set aside to exercise is the only time where I make myself the number one priority. I also feel like I am setting a good example for my son. He and I completed the March Muddy Madness event this year and, although it was challenging for him, he was so proud of his accomplishment. I can’t tell you how incredible it feels to be able to share that with him. It certainly was not something that I would have been able to do, had I not made this change in my life. I recently completed the Rock & Roll ? Marathon and shaved over 20 minutes from my last ? Marathon time. I felt great afterwards and I know that I am capable of running even faster. It really wasn’t that long ago that I was completely out of shape, but it feels like a lifetime. I am stronger than I ever have been and am proud that the gap between what I know I am capable of and what my body is allowing me to do, is closing. I still have more work to do, but I have no doubt that I will have fun doing it! Thank you Trevor and NWPT for helping me look good and feel GREAT! |
