I moved to Vancouver in the beginning of 2013. I didn’t know a soul. I was recently married, and the heaviest I have ever been. My journey with NWPT started one Saturday evening when I went to put my “go-to” dress on, and I couldn’t get it zipped up. I thought, “That’s it, on Monday morning, I’m going to look for a gym.” I found NWPT online, called up, and spoke with Shantina. Not more than 20 minutes later she was giving me a tour of the studio, and within the hour, she had me set up to meet with Trevor. That was the week of May 8th, 2013, and I’ve never looked back! I showed up to my first session with Trevor with rounded shoulders and not much muscle. I was a long way from the collegiate volleyball player I used to be. Trevor instantly appealed to the athlete in me, and knew how to make my workouts fun! Within a couple of months, my family was already commenting on how much better my posture looked, and I was noticing my clothes were starting to feel too big. I continued to train with Trevor twice a week along with 3-4 group classes per week. I’ve gone from 33% to 19% body fat and I can dead lift over 200 pounds. I’ve completely changed my eating habits for the better and I’ve developed a passion for health and fitness I didn’t know I had.
Aside from the results I have achieved, one of the main reasons I show up every day for my workout is because of the people. I met my good friend Dana Meyer the first week I joined NWPT, and we have been partners in crime ever since. We’ve pushed and motivated each other, and she is a large part of my success. The entire NWPT staff is great, and I can’t begin to say enough wonderful things about the trainers. Thank you Trevor and Rob for supporting me, encouraging me, and making me realize my potential.
