The Bacon Boys

"He is accomplishing his athletic goals for football and can now run, sprint, jump and block like a champ. He is also feeling so much better about himself, has matured significantly in his newfound confidence, has fewer mood swings, and seems less distracted in school. Thanks so much to everyone!"

Starting them young...

I would like to express my appreciation for the opportunity to bring my sons to the studio during the summer. Your “bring your kids to the studio” program was a great experience for my sons, John, 10 and Nicholas, 13. It was also a great way for me to spend time with them while sticking to my regular exercise schedule. For John, the experience was particularly inspiring. John has struggled with his weight for a long time. I’ve tried different incentives over the past few years to help him keep weight off and stay healthy. However, he had developed some poor eating habits and didn’t exercise for long enough periods of time to build endurance. By spring of this year, his weight was affecting him physically and hurting his self-confidence. John had participated in the “Exer-thon” in November and at Ted’s New Year’s Day workout in January and was excited to attend summer classes. The “fun factor” of group sessions made it easy and enjoyable for him to jump in and feel comfortable joining the team. We also did weekly partner training throughout the summer, primarily with Scott. All of the trainers and participants welcomed both boys into the NWPT “community” with open arms and enthusiasm. When football started in August, we were told that John was required to weigh a specific amount to stay on his team. The other option was to move to a higher weight class, which would have put him with older boys. He worked so hard – three hours of football conditioning every night for two weeks, in addition to the noon class at NWPT, in order to meet his goals. One of his biggest motivators for working hard was the support network of trainers and other participants (especially Jeff Jennings and John Fazzolari) and the accountability that goes with the territory. At least when he started football conditioning, he had already been tortured in the heat of the day by Sherri and Jason, knew how to do a perfect pushup, gained endurance and leg strength from cycling with Ted, and had set some athletic goals and recorded benchmarks thanks to Scott. When he went to summer camp for a week at the end of August, he actually returned home lighter. He was able to participate in all of the physical activity options, which helped him avoid over-snacking and over-eating at mealtimes. When we started working out in June, John weighed 113-115 lbs. and his weight fluctuated quite a bit from week to week. For the past month, he has weighed 106 pounds while continuing to add muscle. He’s at a much better weight for his height and body type. He is accomplishing his athletic goals for football and can now run, sprint, jump and block like a champ. He is also feeling so much better about himself, has matured significantly in his newfound confidence, has fewer mood swings, and seems less distracted in school. Thanks so much to everyone, especially Sherri, Scott, Ted, Jason, & Kristin, for making such a huge difference in our little guy’s life.
