One of the questions I hear from clients is, “What’s better, a 30-minute or 60-minute training session?” My answer is probably not what you expect: either can be a great choice!
The “best” workout is the one that fits your schedule, budget, goals and lifestyle, and most importantly, the one you will consistently show up for.
The Benefits of 30-Minute Training
Don’t underestimate what you can accomplish in 30 focused minutes! A shorter session can actually be a huge advantage for many busy people.
Easier to fit into your schedule
Finding 30 minutes can feel much more manageable than finding an entire hour.
Greater consistency
When workouts are easier to schedule, you may be less likely to skip them.
More focused workouts
Knowing you have limited time can encourage you to work harder and stay focused.
Less intimidating
A 30-minute workout may feel more approachable, especially on busy or stressful days.
You may look forward to it more
Shorter workouts can feel less like a chore, making you less likely to cancel.
More budget-friendly
If cost is a consideration, 30-minute sessions allow you to receive professional coaching while reducing your overall training expense.
The Benefits of 60-Minute Training
There’s something wonderful about having an entire hour dedicated to your health and fitness. With more time, your trainer can slow things down and address areas that sometimes get overlooked.
More fitness components
There’s time to incorporate strength, cardio, mobility, balance, core and functional movements.
Less rushed
You can take your time learning proper technique and moving through exercises.
More individualized attention
Your trainer has additional time to address specific needs, limitations or goals.
Greater endurance challenge
Sustaining effort for a longer session can help develop your cardiovascular and muscular endurance.
More recovery time
There’s time at the end for stretching, mobility work or some of our favorite recovery tools, such as the massage gun.
Nutrition and Lifestyle coaching
Your trainer will have additional time to check in on how you are doing with your nutrition and your life outside of the training sessions.
If you choose 30-minute sessions for budget or scheduling reasons, consider adding value by coming in a little early or staying afterward to do some cardio. You can also take advantage of recovery options such as our recovery sleeves, foot reflexology and sauna before or after your training sessions.
Whether you train for 30 minutes or 60 minutes, the most important thing is that you keep showing up. Consistency will always beat perfection, and a workout you actually do is infinitely better than the one you keep postponing!
Yours in health & fitness,
Sherri McMillan
