The holidays are busy. Between decking the halls, gift shopping, party hopping, cooking, baking, and trying to remember where you hid that present you bought in October…it’s no wonder sticking to a fitness routine in December feels impossible. But here’s the truth: your health doesn’t take a holiday, and neither should your commitment to feeling strong, energized, and amazing. You need the holiday hustle without the hassle.
The key? Shift your mindset. Instead of thinking of workouts as another item on your December to-do list, remember that movement is part of your lifestyle, something you do because it makes everything else easier and more enjoyable. When motivation wavers? Bring on the games!

Gamify Your Workouts
Gameifying your fitness routine can turn December from a fitness slump into a fun challenge. When you make movement playful, you’ll roll into 2026 feeling confident, strong, and way less stressed.
NWPT FitMas Bingo
We just started the NWPT FitMas Bingo Challenge on December 1st and you have the entire month to hit your squares, so it’s not too late! We challenge you to hit manageable workout goals, healthy-eating challenges, stress-relief tasks, and even “inspire someone else” boxes. Bonus points if you compete with friends or family.
You can create your own challenges as well. Here are some festive fitness ideas to get you started:
Set a Bare Minimum Goal
Pick a number, any number, and decide to work out at least that many times in December. Maybe it’s 10 workouts. Maybe it’s 20. Make a chart, hang it somewhere you’ll see daily, and cross off each completed session. Visual progress = instant dopamine hit.
Track the Minutes
If a set number of workouts stresses you out, try a monthly minutes goal instead. For example: aim for 600 minutes of movement in December (that’s just 20 minutes a day). Each day, add to your total and watch that number climb.
Reach the Distance
Pick a mileage goal for walking, running, or biking. 100 walking/running miles? 200 biking miles? Totally doable over 31 days…and super satisfying to graph out.
Prioritize Plants
Instead of restricting yourself from holiday treats (which usually backfires), flip the script: commit to 31 veggie-filled meals in December. Salads, stir-fries, roasted veggies…your choice. Check off one box a day and stay fuller, happier, and more balanced.
Dry December (If You Dare)
For some, a booze-free December sounds like torture. For others, it’s exactly the reset they need. Whether you go alcohol-free for the whole month or simply skip drinks during the week, you make the rules.
Hydration Challenge
Not ready to give up alcohol? Start by adding more water. Aim to drink half your body weight in ounces each day. Use our NWPT app to track your daily intake and notice how much better you feel.
Deep Breathing Breaks
If there’s ever a month that calls for deep breathing… it’s December. Set a goal to breathe slowly and intentionally for just one minute each morning or night. Or download the Calm app and do a short daily meditation. Tiny habit, big payoff.
